The Physiological Society of Sri Lanka (PSSL) promotes fellowship among the physiologists to improve teaching of Physiology, encourages and supports research in Physiology, helps disseminate knowledge in various aspects of Physiology and promotes involvement of Physiologists in community. PSSL has long long-lasting reputation in conducting annual research sessions, orations, physiology quizzes and regional meetings.

The president and members of PSSL with the coordination of the Head and the staff of the Department of Human Biology organized the Annual Regional Meeting of PSSL at FHCS on the 10th of March 2017. The event included guest lectures on exercise physiology, advancement of physiology, emphasis of physiology in Phase I curriculum and some interesting topics such as “Revealing the mystery of Batticaloa lagoon” etc.
The program was successfully conducted with the participation of the members of PSSL representing academic staff from all the Physiology Departments of the eight state medical faculties, academics of FHCS, consultants of Teaching Hospital Batticaloa and the Medical and Nursing students of FHCS.
