Free medical consultation
Both primary consultation and specialist consultation are conducted at the HCC. Primary care consultation will be conducted every weekday except public holidays from 9.00 am to 11.00 am according to a roaster of medical officers available at the faculty. The Department of Primary Health Care is responsible for this service component along with other health care professionals. Primary care consultation done on a person-centered approach ensuring a good doctor-patient relationship based on family medicine principles.
Specialist consultation will be conducted according to the dates and time given by each consultant attached to the faculty. Patients are expected to contact the Holistic Care Center and book an appointment prior to their visit. Patients can get required information from the flyer of the consultation schedule or through contacting the nursing officer.
We also invite apparently healthy people to get a basic health screening to assess the likelihood of having a noncommunicable disease or its risk factor with the goal of preventing illness and to promote health.

Registration
Once a patient visits, he/she will be registered to the HCC using both electronic and paper-based registration systems and a patient record book will be issued.

Basic measurements and investigations
Patient’s basic health parameters such as anthropometric, blood pressure and fasting blood sugar/random blood sugar will be measured prior to the primary consultation. Plans for other tests will be in due course.

Waiting time
Patient can expose to different health education and behaviour change communication messages at the lobby of the HCC, and have the opportunity to discuss and solve any health-related queries while he/she is waiting for his/her time for the consultation. Leaflets on different health topics will be issued.

Primary consultation will be conducted in a patient focused way ensuring a good patient-doctor relationships based on family medicine principles.

Health promotion
After the primary consultation, patient will be directed to a customized health promotion session which address modifiable determinants that influence his/her individual and family wellbeing based on the principles of the health promotion approach. The aim of this session is to empower individuals to promote their health through relevant lifestyle modifications in their daily lives. Based on the patient’s willingness, he/she will be included in the patients active committee. It is planned to extend the HCC services via this committee to improve community wellbeing.

Follow-up
Referrals will be done for the specialist consultation. A date for the follow up will be issued based on the identified requirements.

Specialist consultation
This can happen on the same day of the primary consultation or on another day based on the consultation schedule of the consultants.
