Biography

Dr. P. Youhasan is a Lecturer (Probationary) in Medical Education and Research at the Faculty of Health-Care Science (FHCS), Eastern University, Sri Lanka. He completed PhD at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. His doctoral research focused on “Fostering flipped classroom pedagogy in the context of undergraduate health professions education.” In 2022, his PhD thesis won the ‘Dean List Award’ - the highest recognition of excellence from the Dean of Graduate Studies at the University of Auckland, New Zealand.

His passion is searching for a new way of teaching, blending educational technology with traditional teaching, and sharing the new teaching methods with his colleagues. Youhasan’s research interests align with advancing teaching-learning process through technology. His work uses mixed methods, psychometric analysis, and education design-based study.

His research has been published in reputed medical education journals such as BMC Medical Education PLOS One, Medical Science Educator, BMC Nursing, Journal of Professional Nursing and Journal of Advances in Medical Education & Professionalism. He has received awards for presentations at various scientific conferences. He has served as a reviewer for prominent conferences and journals.

Having joined FHCS in 2016, Dr Youhasan has made essential contributions in teaching undergraduate medicine and nursing programme. His other responsibilities include educational development, consulting on curriculum development and e-learning, and scholarship in medical education.
