Undergraduate Programme

The Department of Primary Health Care which includes Community Medicine and Family Medicine disciplines covering 16 modules in five semesters (4th,5th,6th,7th and 8th semesters – revised curriculum). The students are enrolled after successful completion of phase I (first three semesters).

Undergraduate Modules

The modules are implemented via theoretical and field based approaches.

Field based approach mainly includes Primary Health Care clerkship, Community attachment and Family attachment. Community Clerkship and Family medicine appointment will be conducted under the primary health care clerkship. The students will be grouped and assigned to a family for family attachment and the community attachment will be carried out in the community. These activities will be implemented in the Community project area (kokkuvil project area) of Faculty of Health Care Sciences.

Student research project is undertaken in groups considering the fields of departmental disciplines and student’s interest.
